Chinese Lantern

Only a week left until Santa takes to the skies!  I don't know about you but around this time I get really tired of making Christmas themed cards and the colors red and green:)  I mentioned in a previous post about trying different mediums other than alcohol based markers.  I'm still playing around with colored pencils and with this stamp I wanted to try pastel pencils.

These pencils were a lot of fun to play with and it seemed like I was able to blend and layer colors a little bit easier.  However, the dust created from the pastels was something I had to get used to:)
This stamp is from Power Poppy called Sunny Harvest and was just the right size for practicing with a different medium.

I really enjoy the softer look of the pencils and liked using the white pencil in combination with the other colors.

Thanks for swinging by today!

Sweet Saraleigh

Good morning everyone!  I hope your weekend is off to a good start and most of your shopping is done:)  All I can say is thank goodness for the internet and for gift cards placed right near the checkout at the grocery store.  My kids are of the age where gift cards are coveted as they no longer trust their mother to pick appropriate gifts:)  I'm all for it as it makes my life a whole lot easier.

Fingers crossed that this post goes up as planned as I'm teaching some awesome students in more advanced Copic techniques of water and skies all day today.  This fabulous new stamp is from Art by Miran from Whimsy Stamps.

I was getting a little burned out of making and teaching Christmas cards that it was a nice change to do a love/valentine's day card.  This stamp from the December release is called Sweet Saraleigh.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Birthday

Happy Sunday morning to everyone!  I've been trying to get organized (always a never ending process) and to get some more cards posted on this dear blog.

A few months back I was playing around with different skin tones to see what worked and what didn't and trying to use a freer hand when coloring to see what I could come up with...oh and the fact that I had purchased new stamps at a craft show and didn't want them sitting in the drawer and me forgetting about them!

Apparently I forgot to take a front on picture of this side pose it is.  This stamp is from Rubbernecker stamps called Mia. I also love their stamps for watercoloring.

Thanks for stopping by today and hope the rest of your weekend is fabulous.

Colored Pencil Christmas

Whoohoo the weekend is almost here!  It's not like I have anything exciting planned, it's just nice to know I don't have to do anything unless I want to:)  I've been trying my hand at other coloring mediums outside the Copic realm.  I had to keep reminding have to start somewhere so the beginning it is!  I've had colored pencils for a couple of years, but really only used them as a complement to alcohol based markers.  So these cards are my first go round with a full colored pencil image.
Dang do I have a lot of work to do to improve my coloring, but oh well, it's all still fun.  Definitely have to work on blending the night skies and choosing proper colors.  This stamp is from a Power Poppy set called O Holy Night

I really had to fight the urge to pull out my Copics and just get back to something familiar and comfortable.  Can't say I'm in love with the coloring especially the flower but I did have a good time playing around with the different color of greens in the leaves and seeing how layering of the pencils changed the overall color.  This stamp is also from a set from Power Poppy called Heaven and Nature Sing.
I'd like to enter these cards in the Power Peep of the Week challenge

That's it for me today.  I hope everyone has a fantabulous weekend.

Happy New Year's

We haven't even made it to Thanksgiving yet, and I'm already onto New Years' cards:)  I don't typically make New Year's cards but with the new stamps from Whimsy stamps, I just could resist.

And looky markers or coloring! The stamps I used are from the set New Resolutions by Raindrop Echo Designs available at Whimsy Stamps.  I did have a play around with the new Tim Holtz sprays in the blue and silver and some different stencil.  I love the brightness of the colors and of course that they react with water, but good heavens, please please please Ranger, make a spray nozzle that doesn't resemble a fire hose that is so strong that the ink is flying all over the work space even though a color catcher was used.

Of course since I already stained my clothes and fingers and everything is a 3 ft radius, I decided to make a couple more cards.

I added some Ranger liquid pearls to add some more texture to this card.

Don't you just love how I smudged the ink like I'd never crafted before:) !
Thanks for swinging by today, and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend ahead of them.
