Lomasi

Good morning and happy Monday to everyone.  I hope those who enjoy Halloween are gearing up and have some fun plans.  The good news for my kids is the weather on Friday is supposed to be in the mid 60s during the day which means their Halloween costumes won't need to fit over their snow suits and adjusted to look good with snow boots.  Even better for me is they are old enough to run around the neighborhood trick or treating on their own!

Onto the real reason for today's post is to show off the oh so sweet Lomasi (Sweet flower) stamp from Whimsy Stamps.
Isn't she just the cutest thing eva?  She was colored up with alcohol markers.  I admit I tried to use my new Chameleon markers but it looked like I had never colored in my life!  I will definitely have to spend more time practicing to get the hang of these things:)

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy your week.

Witching You

Good morning everyone!  Well Fall has definitely arrived and in the mornings it feels like Winter is just around the corner.  I think the morning skies are the prettiest this time year especially right as the sun makes its way over the mountains.  The colors are just so pretty with the pinks, blues, grays and oranges in the skies and the face of the mountains have such beautiful oranges, yellows, browns and reds.  I happened to remember to actually snap a picture yesterday morning...
Aren't those such pretty Copic colors:)?  For those of you who are local, your reference point is Mt. Herman to the left and yes the white highlights on the ridges are snow!

Okay onto the actual reason for the post...reminding everyone Halloween is also just a couple weeks away.

Isn't she just the best witch?  This digital image is from the new release from Make it Crafty and this image is called Witchy Concoctions and the sentiment is from AJillian Vance.  I needed a little review and practice with coloring night lighting.

I still need a little more practice with having the image flow better into the background shadows, but hopefully with a bit more practice, it'll look a little better.  The witch was colored up with copics and a few pastels.

Thanks for stopping by today and hope your week is wonderful!

Honey Run

Good morning everyone!  I hope your week went well and have some great plans for the weekend.  The kids are home from school today due to hell knows what...oh yes, teacher work day.  I just love those work days.  Only 3 of them so far...3 months into the school year, and a couple of more next week.  Well I've put a couple of the kids to work this morning, prepping for this month's classes and helping clean the house!  I guess all isn't lost to days out of school.

I love coloring realistic images and the new stamps from DoveArt Studios (available at CC Designs) are just fantastic.

This stamp is called Honey Run.  What a fantastically versatile stamp!  I colored it up for the Fall season, but it could just as easily be colored for any of the seasons.

I know a lot of my students are initially intimidated with realistic stamps.  Just a couple of tips...use a reference photo if you're unsure of color or shape and break the image into smaller manageable sections and just give it a go.  After all, it is just paper and markers, and we aren't creating world peace or performing life saving surgery...it's okay to toss the paper in the trash and just try again.

Thanks for swinging by today and enjoy the rest of your day!

Sparrow

Happy Sunday everyone!  I hope your weekend has been going well and you were able to whip up some cards for World Cardmaking Day.  I finally found my way to my craft cave last night to do some coloring.  The nice thing about now having an organized work area is I know exactly how many stamps I own that have never seen ink.
This sparrow is one of the poor creatures that has been stuck in a binder and waiting patiently.

This gorgeous stamp called Chipped Sparrow from Stacy Stamps.  The sentiment is from an older Flourishes set.

I stamped the image in Memento London Fog so the lines would be a little softer for coloring.  This sweet image was colored with Copics.  The background was done with Copics and colorless blender and some of the accent dots were done with Copic multi-liners in the brush size.

Thanks for stopping by today and hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful.
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
613 Avenue Create:  Anything Goes
Crafting at the Weekend:  Anything Goes
A Creative Romance:  In the Garden

It's a Chalkboard Christmas

Good morning everyone!  Fall has finally arrived and thank goodness for the cooler temperatures.  Don't get me wrong, I love love love hot temperatures, but too much of anything is well, just too much.  It's nice to put on a jacket in the morning (to hide my chubby arms) and to know that yard work is pretty much done for the next six months!  Of course, with the arrival of Fall means Winter is around the corner (uggggh) and so is Christmas (yeah).
It's never to early to get crackin' on the Christmas cards and today's card(s) accomplish just that task.
As much as I love to color with my ever growing collection of different mediums, it's awesome to put the coloring aside and create something else.  Have you seen the chalkboard sentiments from Whimsy Stamps and SC Designs?  Love them!  So versatile and fun to play around with.  This sentiment is from the Christmas Chalkboards 1.
I love that these sentiments are larger enough to take center stage and I can build the design around the sentiment.  I stamped the sentiment in versamark and then embossed in white.  I then dusted some chalk dust on the paper to create the dusty looking background.  The die cut presents are also new from Whimsy called Gift Box.

Going with the same theme with a different sentiment and using the die cut Santa's Sleigh (which by the way has a rockin' good price since it's on sale:)).

And last but not least (for today anyway).  Oh looky I actually used a couple of flowers.
That's it for me today.  Have a great day and a wonderful rest of your week and thanks for stopping by today.
